Jackal Speak

2011 Year in Review

Howdy all once again as a New Year is upon us.  2011 was a year of meeting lots of new friends, and more time out on the road.  We are looking forward to more of that in 2012!  We expected to have an album release in 2011, but got side tracked and didn't get into the studio.  No worries though, as we are going to the studio in February, and it is all the better!  We are very happy with the way the album is shaping out, and we hope you do too.  It will be called "No Place For Children."  Stay tuned to our facebook page for release announcements:  https://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Misery-Jackals

We've been on Cleveland Television this year and got to open for Clutch and Flogging Molly.  We went all up and down the East Coast from Boston to North Carolina and over to Chicago.  Pirate Jenny retired, and we usually appear as a 3 piece, but we still have as good a time as any!  We hope to have more accordion, drums and horns in our lives sometime soon for our live performances.

This year we played at least 5 festivals that comprise over a hundred bands.  Here are the ones we shared a stage with in 2011 (sorry if we forgot anyone!)

2010 Year in Review

Howdy Folks!

2010 was a rough and tumble year for your mangy Misery Jackals.  We started out with Pirate Jenny’s shoulder being broken and Beaner MIA scraping boats in Florida.  Beaner came back and saved us, then Pirate Jenny nearly killed herself by walking the plank.  Despite these mere mortal setbacks, we are still managing to kick ass.

We made a new video with the help of the Northeast Ohio Roller Derby :  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ByOr59CGf0  An overwhelming number of musicians and folks helped out Pirate Jenny in her time of need, in a blizzard.  She thanks you again.  We made lots of new friends, played with a bunch of great bands and we look forward to more shows in 2011.  Expect a new recording in 2011, tours in the Northeast, Midwest and probably a showing down South a time or 2.

A special thanks to all you great friends and musicians for helping us along during the year.  Without Eric Baltrinic, Mike Shubert, Jeremy Fisher, Garret Costlow, Martyn Flunoy, Ben Shuber and Kevin Brosine, we’d be fucked!  Thanks guys, you are all family.  Christine Martin & Jacqi Corgan ~ thank you for your beautiful artwork, your posters are the best.  We appreciate all the support we have received from Buzzbin Magazine and Akron's Night Out.  Everyone who ever booked us... THANKS!

This year, due to difficulties beyond our control, we stayed in the Midwest.  Playing from Michigan to North Carolina with a slew of great bands, some of them multiple times, here’s who in chronological order (sorry if we missed somebody).  Check them out!
